This manual is designed for use by UCI faculty and staff provides guidelines, policies, and procedures for submission of proposals for new or modified undergraduate degree requirements for majors, minors, school requirements, breadth, honors programs, etc., and for approval, disapproval, modification, withdrawal, conduct, credit valuation, and classification of courses.
All guidelines in this handbook derive from standing policies, Divisional Senate Regulations, Universitywide Senate Regulations, and represent minimum standards required. Please familiarize yourself with this document, including the appendices which offer further information and guidelines.
Beginning fall 2006, the Council on Educational Policy will require units to use the unaltered forms posted on this site, and included in the Appendices, to submit requests. All submissions must include either a Request for Course Action/Breadth Form or a Request for Approval of New or Modified Undergraduate Degree Requirements form.
When proposing a new major, be sure that the major is listed on the most recent five-year plan. If it is not currently included on the plan, please contact Michael Clark, Vice Provost for Academic Planning, prior to submitting the proposal to CEP.
Please contact Molly McGuire, Council Analyst, at 4-5559 or mmcguire@uci.edu if you have questions.
